This story was originally published by ESPN Brazil and translated from Portuguese.

Players in the League of Legends European Championship earn on average € 250,000 per year, Richard Wells, founder of H2K Gaming.

In the video, titled “How much does a League of Legends team cost?” the organization’s chief gaming officer talked about the expenses that an organization has each year to maintain a team in the European league — including the salaries of LEC players as well as players on the LEC teams’ academy teams.

According to Wells, while LEC players make €250,000 per year, the annual salary for academy players is around €60,000 per year. These figures indicate a monthly average of €20,800 and €5,000, respectively.

Wells points out that the values are average, as larger teams pay more for better players, and some smaller teams pay less for all of their players.

Yet another revelation in the video is about the salary of LEC coaches. According to Wells, coaches make an average of 100,000 per year. Meanwhile, in the North American League of Legends Championship Series, many coaches have annual salaries up to $500,000 per year.

In the video, Wells also presents the financial planning that H2K Gaming prepared in order to get a franchise in the LEC, with vacancies selling for up to €10,5 million. The organization failed to get one and was left out of the LEC.

Wells also discusses what is the cost of having a gaming house, how the division of money between LEC teams works and how much teams can get from sponsor investment.
